Objective

Remove a sample from the bank: either to use it (thaw) or to discard it. The operation frees the physical position and records the transaction in the history.

Before starting

• Locate the sample in the storage view.
• Have the reason for thawing or discarding.
• Have GAMETE_BANK_STORAGE: WRITE.

Step by step - Thaw

1. Enter the Gamete bank module, Storage sub-route.
2. Locate the sample and click the Thaw icon.
3. The thawing dialog opens. Enter:
   • Quantity to thaw.
   • Date of thawing.
   • Technique used.
   • Observations (for example, sample for insemination study).
4. Confirm with Save.

Step by step - Discard

1. Locate the sample and click the Discard icon.
2. The discard dialog opens. Enter:
   • Quantity to discard.
   • Reason for the discard.
   • Date.
   • Observations.
3. Confirm with Save.

Expected result

• The sample (or the indicated quantity) is removed from the bank.
• The position is free for new registrations.
• The operation is recorded in the History with type, date and responsible.
• The system shows a success message.

Common errors

Situation	What to do
The operation fails with a position conflict	The sample is no longer in that position. Check in the storage view.
The requested quantity is greater than the available one	Adjust the quantity to the current stock.
The discard does not appear in the history	Refresh the page; the history is updated asynchronously.

• GAMETE_BANK_STORAGE: WRITE.

Operational recommendations

• Confirm with the patient and the responsible doctor before thawing or discarding.
• Document the reason in all cases to maintain traceability.

Relation with other modules

• History: the transaction is recorded.
• Medical studies: thawing can start an insemination study or another.
• Cash box (CryoBank): if there are pending charges, they are not affected by thawing or discarding.
